The Comfort Chamber invites all residents and business owners to get in the spirit of the season and build a one-of-a-kind scarecrow for everyone in town—and our visitors—to enjoy! You can display your spooky, funny, or creative masterpiece anytime from October 13–31, adding a festive touch all around Comfort. Judging will take place from October 23–26, so if you’d like your scarecrow to be part of the competition, simply contact the Chamber by phone or email with your address and contact information. Let’s fill Comfort with autumn charm and spooky fun—one scarecrow at a time!

Comfort Heritage Foundation General Meeting

Everyone is welcome and encouraged to attend the next Comfort Heritage Foundation general meeting on October 13, 2026 at 7:00 PM at the Old Waring Schoolhouse. The meeting will commence with general business items, and then there will be a lively presentation on what it was like to attend this school before Comfort consolidated all of the rural schools. The schoolhouse is located at 108 Avenue E in Waring across from the Church of Waring. Refreshments will be provided.

Music in the Park - October 14, 2025, at 6:00 PM with the Polkamatics performing.
This is their first performance at Music in the Park, and we are really excited to have them. After all, it is October and a perfect time to enjoy the cooler evenings along with some fine old time German Music! You may even recognize some of the folks in the band. The free concert will be on Tuesday, October 14th at 6:00 PM in the Comfort Community Park, and all are invited to come and enjoy the great music.
The concert series is sponsored by Gaddis United Methodist Church and Kendall County Parks. We hope you will come and share with us an evening of great music in the Comfort Community Park. Bring your lawn chair and a friend! Complimentary water and cold drinks will be available.
